Juan Jibaja is married and has two children. He attends the Los Algarrobos Ward in the Piura Peru Miraflores Stake. After serving a LDS mission, he continued his studies at the Piura National University and married Miriam Curay in 1998. He graduated in 2000 as a Mathematics Teacher and worked temporary teaching jobs. In 2003 he got a permanent teaching position. His dream was to start his own school. In 2005 he took is first business training class at Eagle Condor. He participated in all of the workshops and designed an Educational Business Model. He would start with Kindergarten, then add a new grade each year. He created "Rayitos del Sol" (Sunbeams) Kindergarten and applied for a loan from Eagle Condor. He received $1000. His father-in-law supported him by offering the first floor of his home to use for the school for two years. He prepared a presentation and personally visited 300 families near the new school to find potential clients. Also, he and his wife performed some public events for the community like puppet shows, educational workshops for parents and carnival parties for children during the summer to find children for the school. His business advisor, Milton, dedicated many hours to help him start his business. By April 1st, opening school day, he had 46 students, exceeding his business breakeven point of 40 students. He hired three teachers and a part-time assistant. He trained them and prepared all the educational materials needed. He currently is earning just a little better than his previous job as a teacher. His kindergarten is based on LDS values and standards and accepts children of all faiths. He is now working on plans for the elementary school for next year. For the present, Rayitos del Sol Kindergarten is Juan Jibaja's dream come true thanks to the support from Eagle Condor Humantarian Micro Enterprise program. More Stories...
