Forty Four Participants Complete Mic
Forty four students have completed the first Micro Enterprise Program in Piura and Chiclayo, Peru. With Business Plans presented, validated and approved, these graduates have qualified for business loans that will launch them toward a life of sustaining themselves as well as their families. Classes started on May 31st and finished on July 9th, 2004.
Oswaldo Tello, the Andes Eagle Condor Humanitarian, (Andes ECH), Director in Chiclayo, has put together an outstanding, comprehensive cirriculum that teaches basic business principles. Each student is required to attend 84 hours of classroom instruction and 42 hours of field experience. Three units make up the course of studies.
Unit One: "The Participants" - After a process of generating and analysis of different business ideas, each participant selects 3 ideas about businesses that they could start with the support of Andes ECH, prioritizing them based on viable and profitable criteria; proposing the best of the three for realization.
Between Units One and Unit Two, Andes ECH Advisors visit each participant in their home to verify that they have selected their business idea and obtain information about the environment, potential market and teach a better understanding about the process of selecting business ideas.
Unit Two: "Business Draft and Plan" - Each participant elaborates a draft of his/her Business Plan about his/her selected business idea.
Between Unit Two and Unit Three, Economic Development Advisors visit each participant to verify each participant is elaborating the draft of his/her Business Plan, and that it has been based on real and trusted information.
Unit Three: "Viable Business Plan" - Each participant's Business Plan can allow the participant to obtain income to provide for their family and achieve a basic level of self sufficiency.
Completion of the Third Unit gives the participant the opportunity to elaborate their Business Plan to Andes ECH and attach his/her Loan Application. The Andes ECH staff reviews and validates the Business Plan and will then elaborate the Credit Proposal to be presented to the Credit Committee of Andes ECH.
