Two Century Bike-athons raise Funds
Riders in the Ulcer Century and El Desperado Century Bike rides raised almost $3000 in pledges for Eagle Condor Humanitarian. The Ulcer ride is around Utah Lake and the El Desperado is near Panquitch in Utah. Sandy Daniels, Kelly Sheppard, Scott and Tony Whipperman participated and felt that it was a marvelous experience. All of the funds raised from these two events will be donated to help develop libraries in northern Peru. In March, a group visited public and school libraries in the north of Peru and were saddened by the lack of books available for children. Monsefu public library had only seven old childrens books. Phyllis Hall, our library specialist, has been busy planning and ordering books that will be sent to Peru with an expedition in November. Soon a special library room will be designated for children and books will be purchased with donations to fill these libraries. The Goal of this program is to help the schools and public libraries in poor areas of Peru to obtain books so that the children can broaden their knowledge, expand their minds and develop their imaginations.
If you wish to participate in this program, you can still send a donation in their names to help with the libraries.
